Animal hybrid Reflection

The assignment was to create your own animal using animal parts from three different animals. First in order to create the animal, we had to fill out a sheet on why we picked those three animals. What represents the animal? After the worksheet we researched on animals to cutout. Then cutout each part that you wanted and start making your animal. Finally after the animal was all set, you had o make a background in which the animal was going to live on.

For my animal I decided to pick a penguin, an eagle, and a deer to make my Pengwuineagle.  From the Eagle I cut the wings out, from the penguin I cut the body outline with the head, and from the deer I picked the antlers. For the background I decided to have like an Antarctica environment because my Pengwineagle looked more like an ice animal than an Earth animal.

The three animals actually represent me a lot, I could relate to the eagle, because the eagle is brave, and free. The penguin is protective and uses humor-like activities to protect itself. The environment in which my pengwineagle is living in connects to the animal in a enormous way, the pengwineagle is standing on one foot about to fly off, and it has a dry cloudy sky.

Looking at the rubric I think I did very well following the assignment. The invention of the animal was there, I created an animal from three different animals using their animal parts. I was always in class and doing my work that’s why I think I did well in Engagement. And overall I think I did well. What I like most about my animal is how I drew the face into it, by putting the mouth and giving it some emotions, and that’s why I don’t think ill change anything about it. and like the other project we used the pen tool to draw the animals out.

Silhouette Self Portrait Reflection

The project was to create a silhouette based on a self-portrait we took prior starting the project. Before we started the project we had to take a self-portrait with the options of including your whole body, or half of body. We were also introduce to a new kind of adobe software; Adobe Illustrator. Illustrator is very different to Photoshop, because in illustrator it’s more in using a freestyle kind of thing rather than being limited to a picture size. After we took the picture we had to transfer it to illustrator and start tracing it with the pen tool. The silhouette also had to include some kind of text and represent who you are. After we traced ourselves out, we started thinking on a way to represent ourselves in the silhouette, I decided to include music, and a quote “music is the inspiration”.

When I cropped my image I cropped half the body, from waist up. I decided to included text on top of the silhouette, a type of heading, and I also included the quote above “music is the inspiration”. The backgrounds are both white, because since I included headphones, music notes, and a flayer on the middle of the background, I didn’t want to make it seem that there was more than what I looked.

I think the way I cropped my piece makes an interesting composition because I look like I’m looking at the flayer I included in the background, making it seem like I’m looking into something deeper than its shown. For the text I used cursive writing to give the piece some style, and put the quote like I said on the heading. My background enhances my piece well because its white and it makes everything pop out.

Looking at the rubric I think I did good on the engagement, I was always focused on the project and used the new tools efficiently. The thing I like most about my silhouette is how my outline actually came out it came out smooth. The pen tool is really cool, its like drawing on a computer without having actual artistic skills. Overall I learned plenty of new things using Adobe Illustrator.
